So glad I could help! All of us bloggers need to help one another out when we can.

  2. Thank you, I am relaunching my blog and had no idea about some of this. How about YouTube? I’ve been trying to figure out if a simple hashtag in the video description is enough.

    1. Tracie Fobes says:

It still is not enough based on what the FTC says (although that is what many do). You can use the same simple disclosure that says you make money if they click on the links you share. Then, direct them to the disclosure policy on your site.

  3. This is so much useful info!! The cookie law really through me for a loop cause it’s something that I see all the time but never gave much attention too! Thanks for sharing!

  4. This helped so much! I am currently working on setting all of this up before I jump head first into blogging. Great info!

I see that at one point you mention that the disclaimer (such as affiliate links) needs to be near the links but then you mention that a disclosure page can be made and a link pointing to that placed at the top of the page. If I do that option do I still have to put a disclaimer about possible affiliate payment with each link?

Tracie I’ve been writing in a journal since I was 8 years old. Can I use a blog as a journal?

    1. Tracie Fobes says:

You can do that if you do not want to make money and it is for personal use. But if you want to turn it into a biz, youwill need to do something different.

  8. I keep seeing the cookie pop up on some website and I didn’t even know the use. Thanks for the clarification although I don’t live in the us but still helpful. Thanks a lot ????

  9. Thank you for the information and sharing, I just started my blog last month with zero knowledge.

  10. Are the rules for affiliate links the same in the uk

    1. Tracie Fobes says:

Yes. Disclosure is required everywhere as it is necessary for both where you live and your readers live.

  11. I am very impressed and a tad bit overwhelmed after reading all of this. I am so glad I chose your site to read because it is very informative. Thank you for laying it all out step by step for new people such as myself!
